Azerbaijan National Bioethics Committee was represented at the 11th meeting of the Bioethics Committee of the Council of Europe. Senior researcher of the institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS, scientific secretary of the Azerbaijan National Bioethics Committee, PhD Gulnara Balakishiyeva participated in the Bioethics Committee of the Council of Europe's 11th meeting held in Strasbourg, France, on 6-8th of June. At the meeting which was attended by representatives from 47 member countries of the Council of Europe, the importance of the ratification of the Oviedo Convention was emphasized. Some statements from the convention, human rights and biomedicine, transplantation of human tissues and organs, creation of protocols of genetic testing for biomedical research and health protection, protection of children's rights, protection of persons with psychological disabilities and their compulsory treatment were discussed. Members of the Bioethics Committees were recommended to establish relations with other committees.
