Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Shahin Mustafayev made a speech at the ANAS General Meeting. Science can not develop in closed environments, it requires international integration into the scientific environment, said the scientist.

Stating that one of the most promising directions of social and humanitarian sciences is a Silk Road project, S. Mustafayev noted that this project has gained topicality all over the world, especially in recent years, with China's strategy, "One Belt, One Road". Azerbaijani state supports this strategy and actively participates in this field with its extensive economic and infrastructural projects.

He provided information on the fundamental monograph "Azerbaijan on the Great Silk Road", which was supported by the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation.

In recent years, India, Russia, Iran, Turkey, South Korea, Italy and other countries have shown great interest in UNESCO's Silk Road series nomination program, saying that some of these countries are planning to join the program soon.

Noting that the leadership of ANAS supported Silk Road initiatives, the academician also noted that this issue has been repeatedly discussed at the National Commission for Culture, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNESCO.

He said that joining large-scale projects related to the Silk Road in Azerbaijan is a matter of state importance and expressed his confidence that participation in UNESCO projects will stimulate the development of public and humanitarian sciences in Azerbaijan.
