On July 1, 2019, an event dedicated to the anniversary of prominent scientist and public-political figure, founder of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies Jalal Aliyev and the 3^rd anniversary of the foundation of the institute was held. Opening the event academician-secretary of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences academician Ahliman Amiraslanov welcomed event participants. Amiraslanov noted that the institute, founded by our teacher, great scientist Jalal Aliyev, is today 3 years old. The institute was founded on the basis of the department which had rich material and technical base and staff potential headed by J. Aliyev. It was noted that this department had been very effective for many years and had given significant results to world science. J. Aliyev's services are not related only to the name of the institute. Academician played a great role in achievements in the field of photosynthesis, totally in our country, even beyond our country. The achievements of the scientist's students outside of Azerbaijan also confirm that. J.Aliyev’s students lead large scientific centers and contribute to science. Academician A. Amiraslanov noted the successful activity of the director of the institute, acad. Irada Huseynova in the continuation of the scientific heritage of the great scientist and said that scientist is happy who has a scientific school. The speaker congratulated the staff of the institute on behalf of the division on this occasion.

Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, vice-president of ANAS academician Irada Huseynova thanked academician A. Amiraslanov for his participation in the event. She noted that 30 June is the birthday of academician Jalal Aliyev, and also the foundation history of the institute.  Everyone who is sitting in this hall considers the great scientist to be their teacher. I.Huseynova gave information about the history of the institute. It was noted that Jalal Aliyev created a small creative group at the Institute of Botany in the 70s of the last century, and this group had gone a long way to a big branch. In 2014, the General Assembly of ANAS adopted a decision on the establishment of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies on the basis of the Department of Fundamental Problems of Biological Productivity of the Institute of Botany of ANAS headed by academician Jalal Aliyev, and the institute started its independent activity on July 1, 2016. At present, there are 14 laboratories, including 5 international laboratories, 3 departments, doctoral studies, dissertation, and master degree.

There is a master degree at the institute for three years. I.Huseynova thanked President of ANAS academician Akif Alizadeh, academician-secretary of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences academician Akliman Amiraslanov for the attention and care during the establishment and functioning of the institute. She said that she was sure considering wish of the all the staff and students of Jalal Aliyev, the institute would be named after its creator Jalal Aliyev. In this regard, the establishment of the J.Aliyev award of ANAS is a great step in this direction.

At the end of the event, a film named “Ebedi Chirag” dedicated to J.Aliyev was demonstrated.
