Chemists at Moscow State University have proposed to control diabetes through sweat analysis Jul 29, 2019 | 11:35 / Interesting information

Employees of the chemical faculty of Moscow State University have developed a non-invasive method for determining the level of glucose in the blood, using sweat analysis, the press service of the Moscow State University after M.V.Lomonosov.

One step away from diabetes. What is prediabetes and how to identify it

Since it is not yet possible to reliably determine the level of sugar in the blood through the skin, scientists have concentrated on the fluids that the human body secretes itself, sweat has become the key one.

Creation of a fundamentally new biosensor is done by the staff of the Department of Analytical Chemistry of Moscow State University under the guidance of Professor, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Arkady Karyakin.

According to the results of tests with the participation of volunteers, researchers proved that a correlation between blood and sweat is sufficient for monitoring diabetes.

The principle of glucose determination is based on the fact that glucose oxidase reacts with the glucose contained in the sweat, and hydrogen peroxide is formed, the concentration of which is determined by the reduction reaction on the surface of Prussian blue. In this way, the glucose content is indirectly determined.
