On November 19, 2019, a joint meeting of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences and Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies was held. Scientific-secretary of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, Ph.D. in agrarian sciences Afig Mammadov participated in the event.

Reporter, Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS, Vice-President of ANAS Irada Huseynov gave detailed information about the work carried out in the Institute in connection with the implementation of the Presidential decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, state programs. She noted that researches were carried out on 30 stages of 24 studies to accomplish 5 themes in 2019. Information on the implementation of plans for research and important scientific results were brought to the attention of council members. The reporter noted that the institute's international relations were significantly expanded and this year agreements were signed with the Institute for Sustainable Plant Protection of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), Institute of Genetics and Cytology of NAS of Belarus, Pusan National University of Korea, Pushchino Biological Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. 16 employees of the institute have been in scientific trip in 14 foreign countries (Italy, Austria, Germany, France, South Korea, Russia, Slovakia, Georgia, Iran, etc.). Researches of the institute took an active part in the scientific conferences held in Azerbaijan and abroad in 2019. In recent years, the number of articles published in impact-factor journals has also increased significantly. The reporter noted that the institute paid special attention to the training of young scientific personnel, created all conditions for dissertants and doctoral students and they conducted their research in laboratories equipped with modern types of equipment.

In the end, the annual activity of the Institute was positively assessed and a decision was made to adopt the annual report.
