On March 4, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) hosted a seminar on "Chinese coronavirus: myths and realities, a scientific look at the problem."

The event was organized by the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS.

First of all, the vice-president of ANAS, the chairman of the Division, the director of the IMBB, academician Irada Huseynova stated that the seminar attaches of educational importance and spoke of various viruses and misinformation spread around the world which have caused concern among the people, and taken preventive measures to prevent the spread of new types of coronavirus in Azerbaijan.

In her lecture on "Coronaviruses, Evolution, Mechanisms of Resistance and ways to fight them: Past, Present and Future Risks", academician I.Huseynova provided detailed information on viruses, their origin, spread, and ways to fight infectious diseases. The scientist also touched upon the dynamics of coronavirus (COVID-19) worldwide, human virus infections and artificial viruses.

During the seminar were listened following lectures - "Pathogens: Risk Levels and Experimental Approaches", "The danger of coronavirus spread in Azerbaijan", "The origin, epizootology and distribution characteristics of coronavirus SARS-Co-2".
