The international scientific conference “Actual problems of the modern natural and economic sciences” dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the National Lider Haydar Aliyev was held in Ganja (4-5 May, 2018). In the conference, where well-known scientists from Russia, Turkey, Georgia and Ukraine participated, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies was represented by the correspondent member of ANAS, professor Ibrahim Azizov and senior researcher, PhD in biology Ulker Ibrahimova.
U.Ibrahimova gave a presentation on the theme “Effects of salt stress on some physiological and biochemical parameters of wheat plants”. The young researcher noted that it is very important to study mechanisms of salt effects, developing tolerant varieites and using them in the selection process as parental forms for coping with soil salinity.

I. Azizov spoke on “The effects of various NaCl concentrations on the synthesis of photosynthetic pigments and the activity of PSII in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L) seedlings”. The aim of the presented work was the assessment of salt tolerance of bread wheat genotypes. The scientist emphasized that plant tolerance against extreme conditions is a result of the complex of physiological adaptive responses.
