On May 21, Professor of Akdeniz University (Turkey), head of the International Laboratory "Molecular Bioengineering" of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Tarlan Mammadov held an online workshop for students of Baku State University on topic: "New type of coronavirus COVID-19: epidemiology, virology, diagnosis, clinical features and prevention.”

Having connected to the video lesson, the rector of the university Elchin Babayev spoke about the proactive and effective measures taken in a higher educational institution to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Stressing that the fight against a new type of coronavirus was better organized in Azerbaijan than in many developed countries, the rector added that as a result of preventive measures taken in the country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the spread of the virus in Azerbaijan was prevented.

During the workshop, ANAS corresponding member Tarlan Mammadov spoke about the methods for diagnosing and treating COVID-19 infection, the genome, structure and origin of the virus, the signs of the disease, as well as the development of vaccines, methods of preventing the disease and ways to protect against the virus, using innovative technologies for preventing outbreaks of new epidemics and calls for national biosafety.

The lesson on the Microsoft Teams platform aroused great interest among the participants. The master class ended with the scoring of answers to questions.
