The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program funds outstanding doctoral candidates who will make a positive contribution to the country's economic, social and scientific research, both nationally and internationally.

The goal of Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships is:

attract and support top-level postdoctoral talents

develop leadership potential

preparing them for success as tomorrow's research leaders

 Scholarships are divided equally between:

Canadian institutes of health research (CIHR)

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC)

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC)

The duration of the program is 2 years (with no right to extension) and the value of the scholarships is USD 70,000 per year (tax included). 70 scholarships are awarded annually. About 140 rewards are active at any time.
