Basic scientific achievements

1.The xl.DNA genome library of the Cicer arietinum plant was created and the psbA gene was localized.

2.Specific CAPS (cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence) markers were developed for the Eb, Ee, R genomes of wild tribes of the Triticeae family and were used in the identification of these genomes.

3. Based on the result of the screening of salt resistance potential of durum and bread wheat genotypes and lines collected in Genbank using molecular markers, the use of Barakatli 95, Garabagh, Shiraslan 23, Girmizi bughda and Sharg genotypes in the selection process was recommended.

4. Molecular identification of the biotic factors (phytoplasma, virus)  revealed BMLRV-black medic leaf roll virus; FBNSV- faba bean necrotic stunt virus; FBNYV-faba bean necrotic yellow virus nanovirus in Azerbaijan and based on the sequence analysis, genome divergence, recombination, and genome reassembly were clarified.

5. For the first time in Azerbaijan, potyviruses- WMV-watermelon mosaic virus; ZYMV-zucchini yellow mozaic virus; CMV-cucumber mosaic virus;

Poleroviruses-CABYV-cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus; Tobamoviruslardan TMV-tomato mosaic virus; PMMoV-pepper mild mottle virus; Begomoviruslardan TYLCV-tomato yellow leaf curl virus were detected in the areas of vegetable cultivation.

6. For the first time in Azerbaijan, ´Candidatus Phytoplasma puri´ was found in the pear tree, ´Candidatus Phytoplasma brasiliense´ in the peach tree, ´Candidatus Phytoplasma prunorum´, and Candidatus Phytoplasma solani´ phytoplasma diseases were found in various plants.

The genome of the Stolbur-2 isolate of Candidatus Phytoplasma solani was sequenced.

7. ´Candidatus Phytoplasma solani´ phytoplasma disease was found to spread in Azerbaijan by the insects Hyalesthes obsolutes and Reptalus noahi.

8. The main population-genetic parameters of STR markers in the Azerbaijani population and 15 autosomal STR markers were used in paternity tests to study mutations.
