On May 8, Preliminary discussion of the dissertation "Study of the antioxidant defense system and photosynthetic effectiveness in drought stress and its recovery in wheat genotypes “ of Lala Aydinli, a researcher at the Bioadaptation Laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, presented her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 2411.02 - "Plant Physiology",  was held in an online format. Dissertation work was performed under the leadership of the director of IMBB, vice-president of ANAS academician Irada Huseynova. Along with the scientific staff of the institute, scientists of the institutes of Botany, Radiation Problems of ANAS, Baku State University, Agricultural Research Institute took part in the discussion held under the leadership of the correspondent member of ANAS, professor Ibrahim Azizov. Scientific results obtained in the dissertation were published in journals with high impact factor, were reported many times at local and international conferences.

For the first time in the dissertation, the processes of recovery after drought and re-irrigation in local soft wheat varieties in Azerbaijan were studied, the enzymatic and non-enzymatic components of the antioxidant defense system in wheat leaves were comparatively analyzed, and Physiological-biochemical mechanisms of recovery processes after drought and re-water supply for wheat have been studied in a complex way. The results obtained are of fundamental importance in terms of a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of adaptation of plants to adverse environmental factors. It is recommended that the determination of antioxidant enzyme activity and isoenzyme content be used as a test system in the screening of drought-resistant genotypes.

Extensive discussions were held around the dissertation. Preliminary reviewers, Head of the Department of Plant Physiology of the Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Ramiz Aliyev and Head of the Department of Agrarian Science and Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor Javanshir Talai noted that the dissertation work was carried out at a high level and met international requirements. Correspondent members of ANAS Novruz Guliyev, Ilham Shahmuradov, Khalil Gasimov, doctors of biological sciences Saftar Suleymanov, Eldar Novruzov, Elimkhan Jafarov, Tofig Allahverdiyev, Sayyara Ibadullayeva, doctor of philosophy in biology Alamdar Mammadov expressed their proposals and opinions to the dissertation.

In the end, it was decided to discuss Lala Aydinli's dissertation in the seminar council.
