June 15 is a real date of salvation for our people. The creator of this history is Heydar Aliyev, a man who played an exceptional role in the preservation, strengthening, and development of Azerbaijan's independence, who always relied on his people and supported them. At the end of the twentieth century, Azerbaijan, which had a historic opportunity to regain its independence, soon faced the threat of losing it. The crisis of power in the country culminated in June 1993, when chaos and anarchy engulfed the republic. Returning to power for the second time at the insistence of the people, Heydar Aliyev was elected chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan on June 15. Despite the all risks, the Great Leader courageously undertook the mission of salvation of the people. Thus, the long-lasting tension and confrontation in the country subsided, and our republic escaped the threat of civil war and disintegration. The philosophy of national salvation ensured the existence of Azerbaijan, its independence, which is its greatest historical achievement. The great leader Heydar Aliyev wanted to see Azerbaijan as a powerful, influential, democratic state, and his every step and action was aimed at this. June 15 defined today and tomorrow of Azerbaijan. As a result of the far-sighted policy of the National Leader, in November 1995, the Constitution was adopted, which is the basis of a democratic, legal state. Today, the triumph of the ideology of national salvation is reflected in the sustainable development of our independent republic, and Azerbaijan's prestige in the world is growing. Thus, this important historical day has been engraved in the memory of our people as the Day of National Salvation and has been celebrated as an official holiday by the decision of the parliament since 1997. All the achievements are based on the political course defined by the National Leader and the fact that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, successfully continues this political course. As a result of the successful implementation of this policy by President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has become a dynamically developing, constantly renewing, and modernizing country with a growing international prestige. Today, our people are confident that independent Azerbaijan will conquer higher peaks under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev in the light of Heydar Aliyev's ideas.
