On June 30, the meeting of the Dissertation Council ED1.25 operating under the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies was held.

Opening the meeting vice president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, academician Irada Huseynova informed about the issue on the agenda. The academician said that the meeting was dedicated to the defense of the dissertation on "Study of the antioxidant defense system and photosynthetic activity during drought stress and rehydration in wheat genotypes" presented by Lala Aydinli, a researcher at the Bioadaptation Laboratory, for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy on the specialty 2411.02 - "Plant Physiology".

Chairman of the Dissertation Council, correspondent member of ANAS Ilham Shahmuradov noted that 17 members of the Dissertation Council consisting of 18 people were taking part in the meeting. He said that the dissertation work was performed under the leadership of the academician Irada Huseynova.

Scientific secretary of the Dissertation Council, doctor of philosophy in biology, associate professor Ulduza Gurbanova acquainted the members of the council with the personal information of the applicant.

The applicant provided information about the actuality of the topic, issues raised, and their solutions. She said that the main purpose of the dissertation work is to study physiological and biochemical changes during restoration processes after the water scarcity and re-irrigation in soft wheat genotypes (Triticum aestivum L.), which differ in drought resistance.

Official opponents of the dissertation council, correspondent member of ANAS Khalil Gasimov, doctor of biological sciences, professor Vilayat Abdiyev, doctor of philosophy, associate professor Khuraman Khalilova noted in their speeches that the research work is complete, comprehensive in the field of plant physiology. Opponents said that the dissertation fully met the requirements for doctoral dissertations of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, they stated that the applicant deserved the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, majoring in "Plant Physiology", as well as provided comments and recommendations.

Correspondent members of ANAS Tarlan Mammadov, Novruz Guliyev, doctors of sciences Shahniyar Bayramov, Yashar Feyziyev, Tatyana Savchenko, doctors of philosophy in physics and mathematics Garib Murshudov, and others asked questions and made suggestions and recommendations on the dissertation work. Speakers noted that the research work was of scientific and practical interest and had scientific innovation.

After the final words of the applicant, a secret electronic voting was held on the official website of the SAC, accessing the "Personal Cabinet". According to the results of the voting, it was decided to apply to the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with giving the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology to Lala Aydinli.
