A regular meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS dedicated to the reports was held on December 3. Opening the meeting, Director General of the Institute, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova said that the current issues on the agenda were the annual reports of the International Laboratory of Molecular Bioengineering, Laboratory of Population Genomics, Education Department, and Women's Council of the Institute.

Head of the International Laboratory of Molecular Bioengineering, Correspondent Member of ANAS Tarlan Mammadov gave a detailed report on the work carried out in the laboratory on "Study of solutions to the problems of agriculture, human health, industry, protection and efficient use of natural ecosystems through the cell and molecular biotechnology." Professor T.Mammadov, who currently works at the Akdeniz University of Turkey and is also a member of the Vaccination Scientific Committee of the Turkish Institute of Biotechnology, gave detailed information about the preparations in the form of vaccines and sprays against COVID-19 developed by his research group. It was noted that the inactivated vaccine is the only vaccine in Turkey that has passed certain tests and is in the third clinical trial. Head of the Laboratory of Population Genomics, newly established at the Institute,  PhD, associate professor Nurmammad Mustafayev noted that many interesting results were obtained on the theme of the laboratory: "Molecular-genetic research of the Azerbaijani population and some widespread diseases, the creation of biobanks and databases". Detailed information was given about the research on the genetic structure of the Azerbaijani population with an expanded set of hypervariable STR markers, a study of polymorphism of angiotensin-converting enzyme and its receptor genes in the background of COVID-19 and vascular diseases, creation of a theoretical basis for the study of anthropological and other biological materials collected from the Azykh cave. Extensive discussions were held on the reports.

Head of the Department of Education, PhD, associate professor Samira Rustamova informed the council members about the admission to the master's and doctoral programs of the Institute, attestation of masters, doctoral students and dissertators, results of winter and summer exam sessions, staff training, integration of science and education. Chair of the Women's Council, PhD, associate professor Fazila Gasimova spoke about the activities of the council in 2021 and emphasized the importance of the Women's Council in the institute, where most of the staff are women.

In the end, a decision was made to accept reports.
