The regular meeting of the Scientific Council was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies on December 3. Opening the meeting, Director-General of the institute, Vice-President of ANAS Irada Huseynova congratulated doctor of biological sciences Shahniyar Bayramov on his 60^th anniversary on behalf of the staff of the institute and presented him an Honorary Decree. Annual reports of the Laboratory of Enzymology of Photosynthetic Carbon Assimilation, the international laboratory of Proteomics, the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, Civil Defense Headquarters were delivered.

Head of the Laboratory of Enzymology of Photosynthetic Carbon Assimilation, correspondent member of ANAS, professor Novruz Guliyev gave a detailed report to the council members on the work carried out and results obtained on “Research, regulation, and modeling of molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis”, the scientific-organizational activity of the laboratory,  local and foreign trips of, local and foreign scientific trips of employees, published articles, staff training.

Head of the international laboratory of Proteomics, Ph.D. in Biology Ismayil Zulfugarov said that research on "Molecular-genetic and proteomic studies of plant responses to environmental stressors" was successfully conducted this year.

The role of phosphorylation of thylakoid proteins in the energy-dependent attenuation of chlorophyll fluorescence in rice was clarified for the first time using the phosphoprotein approach, and light-dependent interactions between PsbS, PSII, and LHCII proteins and their phosphorylated forms were identified. It was noted that despite the young age of the laboratory, great success has been achieved in the field of staff training. Preliminary discussion of the dissertation work of junior researcher Aynura Pashayeva on "Light-induced proteome and metabolome changes in cereals". Junior researcher Lala Gurbanova won a scholarship for a doctoral study at Kyung Hee University in the Republic of Korea as the winner of the competition held under the "State Program to Increase the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023".

Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists Nargiz Bayramova informed about the newly formed composition of the council, spoke about the activities of the youth of the institute in scientific research and public life of the institute this year.

Chief of the Civil Defense Quarters Valeh Imanov reported on the progress of civil defense operations and training carried out at the institute during the year to ensure the safety of employees and prevent emergencies.

Extensive discussions were held around the speeches. In the end, the members of the Scientific Council unanimously voted for the adoption of the submitted reports.
