An employee of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS was awarded the Presidential Prize based on the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated February 1, 2022, according to which persons who have particularly distinguished themselves in the fields of science and education, culture, youth policy, public and socially oriented activities, innovations and entrepreneurship were awarded the 2022 Presidential Youth Awards. In the field of science, the Junior Researcher of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS Lala Akhundova was awarded the Presidential Prize.

It should be noted that Lala Akhundova, one of the young specialists of IMBB, graduated from Baku State University in 2014 majoring in genetics. In 2015, she was admitted to the Master's program in Medical Biology at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and in 2018 to the PhD program at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS. She participated in the grant project "Research on the role of cancer stem cells in pancreatic cancer and the development of a new method of treatment", presented at the V grant competition for young scientists and researchers, announced by the Scientific Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2020. In 2021, on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, she was awarded first place in the competition for young scientists and specialists under the age of 30.
