On February 2, the event dedicated to Youth Day was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. Firstly, the members of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists visited the grave of National Leader Haydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor. Then the event was held at the assembly hall. Opening the event, the general director of the institute, vice-president of ANAS academician Irada Huseynova congratulated the youth on the holiday, stressed that they are the cornerstone of the nation's development, the preservation of our independence, and, in general, the guarantor of our future.

The speaker noted that the state youth policy, founded by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully developed today under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, creates ample opportunities for young people to look to the future with hope, work harder and contribute to the development of modern Azerbaijan. 

Emphasizing the heroism of our heroic sons in the liberation of our lands under the leadership of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief in the 44-day war, the academician stressed the importance of the participation of our youth in the construction work in the liberated lands.

As a result of the state's attention and care for young people under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, intelligent, national-minded young people are being formed in Azerbaijan today and they play a major role in the country's socio-political life. She spoke about the measures taken in the country to attract young people to science, the state programs adopted for young people to study abroad. Academician Irada Huseynova noted that currently, 5 young specialists of the institute are studying for doctorates at the world's leading universities - Oxford University, Great Britain, Montpellier University, France, Ghent University, Belgium, Grenoble Polytechnic Institute, France, Bilecik Sheikh Edebali University, Turkey on the basis of the State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the joint doctoral program announced by ANAS and the University of Montpellier in France, the Islamic Development Bank's Ph.D. scholarship program. This year, 5 more young employees of the institute have the right to study abroad.

Academician Irada Huseynova noted with pride that Lala Akhundova, a doctoral student of the institute and a junior researcher at the Population Genomics Laboratory, was among the 2022 Presidential Award winners for youth. Another young employee of the laboratory Gulmira Alibeyova was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of ANAS on the occasion of Youth Day. Academician Irada Huseynova congratulated both young people and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Then the chairman of the Veterans Council of the Institute, correspondent member of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov said that National Leader Heydar Aliyev always attached great importance to the training of young people. He noted that they were sent to study at the leading universities of the USSR and returned from there as highly qualified specialists, contributing to the development of our country.

Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute Nargiz Bayramova informed about the history of Youth Day, the state's youth policy, the role of youth in the modern life of our country and society. She said that the Azerbaijani youth not only appreciates the attention and care of the country and the leadership of the Academy but also understands its responsibility and seeks to contribute to the successful implementation of strategic tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev, the country's transformation into a dynamically developing powerful state.   

Aynura Pashayeva, researcher of the international laboratory of Proteomics, Ayten Agayeva, senior researcher of the international laboratory of Molecular Biotechnology, Gulmira Alibeyova, junior researcher of the Population Genomics Laboratory, Lala Gurbanova, junior researcher of the international laboratory of Proteomics spoke about their achievements in science and thanked the leadership of ANAS.

At the end of the event, academician Irada Huseynova presented honorary diplomas to a group of young people who are actively involved in the scientific and social life of the Institute.
