A regular meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS was held on March 15. Opening the meeting, Vice-President of ANAS, Director General of the Institute, Academician Irada Huseynova acquainted the members of the Scientific Council with the issues on the agenda. She spoke about the tasks facing scientists and specialists of the institute: accelerate the resumption of scientific research in the liberated territories, a comprehensive study of the biodiversity of the Caspian Sea, expansion of research on the creation of new plant varieties with the application of digital, genome and post-genome selection methods to ensure food security in the country, molecular-genetic study of the Azerbaijani population, hereditary and congenital diseases, molecular-biological research of fungal, viral and phytoplasma diseases of wild and cultivated plants in Karabakh, anthropological and other biological remains from archeological excavations, search for new compounds with antimicrobial activity, application of digital technologies, machine learning methods, artificial intelligence in solving biological problems. An action plan to be implemented by employees of the institute in connection with March 27-Science Day was discussed.

Partial changes in the composition of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of ANAS, sending Gulmira Alibeyova, a junior researcher of the Population Genomics Laboratory, on a scientific trip to Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, and Aytaj Murshudzadeh, a junior researcher of the International Molecular Bioengineering Laboratory to the University of Montpellier in France were discussed.

Then, staff of the Bioadaptaion laboratory, PhD Samira Rustamova and junior researcher Turana Isgandarova reported on their trips to the Institute of Plant Science and Resource Conservation of the University of Bonn, Germany, and Head of the Population Genomics Laboratory, PhD Nurmammad Mustafayev reported on his trip to the Republic of Turkey to Istanbul Cerrahpasa University.
