Seminar on the secrets of CAM photosynthesis + Photo Nov 10, 2017 | 14:17 / Seminars

A regular scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies on November 10.  Taliya Orujova,  researcher of the laboratory of Enzymology of the Photosynthetic C assimilation gave a presentation on "CAM photosynthesis secrets".  She gave detailed information on the evolution, features and taxonomic distribution of CAM metabolism.  She spoke about the role of CAM photosynthesis in the transformation of unusable arid lands into productive lands, the ability of efficient water use, the high potential of CAM pathway of photosynthesis in increasing food and energy security, and extensive researches conducted on the photosynthetic systems. It was emphasized that the study of the stages of development of this pathway opens prospects for increasing the CAM photosynthesis productivity and new directions in the strategy of genetic engineering.
