On May 10, 2023, the first meeting of the newly created Dissertation Council with registration number ED 1.25 was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. Academician Irada Huseynova, the chairman of the Dissertation Council, who opened the meeting said that by the order of the Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission, Professor Famil Mustafayev dated April 7, 2023 No. 3-50/3-1-1-56/2023, the Dissertation Council with registration number ED 1.25 was established under the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies for the purpose of defence of PhD and doctoral dissertations on 2406.02 - "Biochemistry", 2411.02 - "Plant physiology", 2415.01 - "Molecular biology". It was noted that the composition of the Dissertation Council consists of 18 eminent scientists, 13 of whom work in the institute, and the rest work in various scientific organizationsThe chairman of the council is academician Irada Huseynova, the deputy chairman is Prof. Saftar Suleymanov, and the scientific secretary is PhD Samra Mirzayeva. At the same time, under the Dissertation Council, a Scientific seminar was established for the above-mentioned specialities, which includes 18 experts in total, 6 people from each speciality. Dissertation council members who spoke at the meeting - corresponding member of ANAS, prof. Ibrahim Azizov, doctors of biological sciences Yashar Feyziyev, prof. Ziyaddin Mammadov, prof. Vilayat Abdiyev, PhD Assoc. Ulduza Gurbanova, PhD, and Prof. Rovshan Khalilov expressed their suggestions in the discussions about the issues in establishing the activities of the Dissertation Council at the level of modern scientific requirements, making transparent decisions on dissertation topics, preventing cases of plagiarism, etc.
