The leading researcher of the Bioadaptation Laboratory of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Ph.D. Samira Rustamova and senior laboratory assistant Khayala Aliyeva, leading researcher of the laboratory of Enzymology of Photosynthetic Carbon Assimilation, Ph.D. Ulduza Gurbanova and senior laboratory assistant of the laboratory of Genome Structure and Expression, Goncha Alakbarova were on a scientific mission at the Gobustan Regional Experimental Station on July 11-12. The purpose of the visit was to conduct phenotyping of spike traits in wheat genotypes planted for GWAS analysis. From each of the 217 wheat samples, 10-12 spikes were collected and the height of the plants was measured. The collected spikes were brought to the laboratory for the determination of phenotypic traits such as width, length, number of spikes, number of grains per spike, mass of grains per spike, mass of 1 grain, etc. and for comparative analysis of these traits with genotyping results obtained by "35K Genotyping Array" approach.
