On 01-29 September 2023, Zarintaj Rustamova, a junior researcher at the Population Genomics Laboratory of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of MSE RA was sent to the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, located in Leipzig, Germany, led by professor Paabo Svante, who received the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 2022. The purpose of the 1-month visit is to expand scientific relations between institutions, to learn new methods used in research in the field of anthropology, and to expand opportunities for joint scientific research in the future. Currently, under the leadership of group leader Harald Ringbauer and with the help Dr. of Angela Mötsch, the process of identification and data placement of anthropological materials obtained from archaeological excavations is carried out. In the coming weeks, a visit to the institute's laboratory in Jena and to master the new archaeological methods used here under the leadership of Raffaela Bianco are planned.
