On November 13, at the ED 1.25 Dissertation Council operating under the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Nargiz Bayramova defended the dissertation on the topic " Research of physiological and anatomical changes in the grapevine exposed to GLRAV-3 pathogenesis " in the specialty of plant physiology (2411.02) for a degree of doctor of philosophy in biology. The scientific secretary of the Dissertation Council, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Samra Mirzayeva, introduced the members of the council to the information contained in the personal file of the applicant, and the floor was given to the N. Bayramova. The applicant gave detailed information about the relevance of the topic, the goal of the dissertation work, the scientific novelty of the work, and the results obtained. Nargiz Bayramova noted that for the first time in Azerbaijan, based on the results of quantitative and qualitative analysis using visual diagnosis, rapid laboratory test with AgriStrips and DAS-ELISA methods, infection of local and introduced varieties of cultivated grapes (Vitis vinifera L.) with GLRaV-3 virus was detected and the dynamics of its spread was determined. Besides, changes in the activities of antioxidant enzymes, in the amounts of small molecule antioxidants (ascorbic acid, tocopherols), secondary metabolites (phenolic compounds, glutathione), and osmolytes (proline, glycine-betaine) in grape leaves due to the effect of the virus were studied. Official opponents - Correspondent member of ANAS, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Panah Muradov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Vilayat Abdiyev, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor Sevinj Mammadova read their opinion on the dissertation work and noted that the research work is complete and has scientific innovation. They said that the work fully met the requirements set for doctoral dissertations of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and that the applicant deserved to receive the PhD degree in biology in the field of "Plant Physiology". Doctors in Biological Sciences Ziyeddin Mammadov, Ahad Nabiyev, Rovshan Khalilov, doctor of physics-mathematical sciences and others, who participated in the discussions, highly appreciated the dissertation work and emphasized its relevance, scientific innovation and practical importance. There was a wide exchange of ideas about the dissertation, suggestions and recommendations were made. The applicant answered the questions of the council members and expressed her attitude to the recommendations and comments of the opponents. After the applicant’s final words, a vote was held. Based on the voting results, it was decided to submit a proposal to the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to award Nargiz Bayramova the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology.
