Gulnar Abdullayeva, a junior researcher of the institute, gave a speech at the scientific seminar held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the MSE RA on February 8. Gulnar Abdullayeva, who completed her master's degree in Molecular Biology at MBBI in 2018, won the PhD scholarship program of the Islamic Development Bank and is currently completing her studies at Oxford University in the UK. Gulnar Abdullayeva is about to submit her thesis on "Study of the molecular basis of cell differentiation in colon cancer" for defense. It should be noted that Gulnar Abdullayeva was awarded the Presidential Prize in the field of Science by the Decree of the President of the country Ilham Aliyev.

During her research, Gulnar Abdullayeva classified more than 100 colon cancer cell lines using genetic markers specific to goblet cells encoding proteins called MUC2 (MUCIN2) and Trefoil factor 3. During his studies, 3 articles of the young researcher were published in high-impact factor journals such as eLife and Cell Reports.

Gulnar Abdullayeva's speech was met with great interest by the participants of the seminar. The young researcher answered many questions. After completing her doctoral studies, Gulnar Abdullayeva said that she would like to share her knowledge and skills with young specialists in Azerbaijan and make great contributions to the treatment of cancer. She also noted that she will use all opportunities to continue scientific cooperation with Oxford University.
