The general meeting of the Biological and Medical Sciences Department of ANAS was held in a hybrid form. Members of the department working abroad and in the regions joined the meeting via the Zoom program.

First, the head of the department, the vice-president of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova, introduced the participants to the agenda, and then, once again congratulated the scientists and members of the department who were awarded the jubilee medal "100 years of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)” as well as Honorary decrees, diplomas and letters of thanks of ANAS in connection with the "Science Day",

The first issue on the agenda was related to the scientific-practical conference on "Role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in improving the environment in Azerbaijan" scheduled to be held on May 23-24, 2024. Noting the importance of such an event in terms of contributing to the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World" and preparation for the COP29 to be held in Baku, Academician Irada Huseynova called on scientists and heads of scientific research institutions to actively participate in the conference.

In the subsequent discussions, Academician Garib Mammadov, correspondent members of ANAS - Novruz Guliyev, Zeynal Akparov, Panah Muradov, Alovsat Guliyev, director of the Institute of Zoology of the MSE of AR, PhD in agricultural sciences, Associate professor Aladdin Eyvazov, spoke and voiced their proposals for organizing the conference at a high level.

Then the issue of alternative energy sources, including research on "Green energy", was discussed. Academician Irada Huseynova noted that this issue is very relevant in connection with the " Year of Solidarity for the Green World", and that Azerbaijan has taken a number of responsibilities for the health of ecology on a global scale and handed over the floor for a brief report to the head of the Photobioenergetics Laboratory of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of MES of AR Dr. Yashar Feyziyev.

The speaker talked about "Green energy", photosynthesis and artificial photosynthesis, purchase, conversion, storage of hydrogen, the use of alternative energy sources and the importance of propaganda work among the population in this area, collection, transportation, export of electricity obtained from sunlight in liberated areas, etc. He talked about the existing knowledge, conducted research, future perspectives on such issues and answered many questions of the participants.

Academician Garib Mammadov, corresponding members of ANAS - Panah Muradov, Tarlan Mammadov, Novruz Guliyev, Ilham Shahmuradov, Doctor of biological sciences, Professor Saftar Suleymanov and others participated in the discussions. Concluding the discussions, Academician Irada Huseynova called on heads of scientific research institutions to prepare and present a joint project, emphasizing the importance of strengthening relevant research on alternative energy production problems without harming nature by mobilizing all forces.

 Then, letter from the Cabinet of Ministers of the AR on the submission of a report to the Department for Supporting the Implementation of the Biological Weapons Convention, as well as feedback on draft agreements on cooperation in the agricultural sector between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Cabinet of Ministers of the AR and the Ministries of Agriculture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Morocco and Jordan, as well as the Republic Moldova, Romania and Kazakhstan have been discussed, assignments were also given to relevant specialists to prepare reports and opinions on these issues.

At the meeting, a group of scientists was awarded a Diploma of honor and a letter of thanks from the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS in connection with the "Day of Science".
