On June 12, 2019, the next scientific seminar was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. Junior researcher of the laboratory of Plant Biotechnology, Elnara Sadigova gave a report on “Plant meristem culture is a methodological approach to obtain a healthy material for planting. Modern approaches and perspectives”. The lecturer talked about ways to obtain free planting material from pathogens, method of meristem cultures, the work done to obtain healthy plants using this method, plant root cells, advantages and disadvantages of the meristem culture method. She noted that in vitro meristem culture allows obtaining the free and genetically healthy plant from pathogens, the formation of the whole plant, to generate high returns by massive reproduction of commercial crops which are difficult to reproduce by a vegetative method. The young researcher’s report was met with great interest and discussions were held on the topic.
