On February 2, a preliminary discussion on the dissertation of doctoral student of the institute Samra Mirzayeva , for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy on the topic “Diagnostics, identification of viruses infecting tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants in Azerbaijan and investigation of some biochemical changes induced by pathogenesis”, was held.  The research was carried out within the frame of the project that won the 3rd grant competition of Young Scientists and Specialists supported by Science Development Foundation under President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014. Viruses with DNA and RNA genomes and their mixed forms  infecting  tomato plants, have been detected in Azerbaijan for the first time, as a result of diagnosis and identification of viral diseases using serological and molecular methods in tomato plants cultivated under field conditions and greenhouses in different regions of Azerbaijan.
