On November 13, 2019, with the participation of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, the annual report on the scientific and scientific-organizational activity of the Institute of Zoology in 2019 was held. The meeting was awarded by Vice-president of ANAS, doctor of biological sciences academician Irada Huseynova,  academician-secretary deputy of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, correspondent member of ANAS, doctor of medical sciences, professor Nuru Bayramov and scientific secretary of the department, PhD in agrarian sciences Afig Mammadov.

Director of the Institute, PhD in physics, Associate Professor Elman Yusifov gave detailed information about the researches carried out and results obtained at the institute. He noted that the Institute had 40 research works on 3 problems, 10 topics on "Research, restoration, conservation, rational use and creation of biodiversity, soil and water resources." It was reported that the Institute's staff presented a new snake species for the South Caucasus fauna, and the results of the research were published in Peer J, a Web-based science and Scopus database. 5 rare mammalian species: Cervus elaphus Linnaeus, 1758 (noble deer); Rupicapra rupicapra Linnaeus, 1758 (Caucasian brass); The habitat of the species Capra aegagrus Erkleben, 1777 (Bezoar goat), Ovis Orientalis Gmelin (Asian mulefon), 1774 and Ursus arctos L., 1758 (Honor month) were modeled and GIS maps were prepared. During the reporting year, the Institute staff published 63 articles, 40 theses, 1 textbook (abroad), 3 monographs (1 abroad), 2 brochures.

The director of the Institute also gave detailed information about other scientific and organizational activities of the Institute.
