As a result of joint research conducted by ANAS vice-president, director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Academician Irada Huseynova, deputy director for science of the Institute, PhD in Biology Alamdar Mammadov, senior researcher PhD in Biology Gulnara Balakishiyeva and French Professor Javiero Fisser, new results of importance have been obtained for world science.

In the course of studies, insect vectors of the Candidatus Phytoplasmma solani phytopathogen in Azerbaijan were identified based on bar coding using the “mtCOI mitoxondri” marker. It has been established that this type of phytoplasm is spread by the insects “Hyalestes obsoletus” and “Reptalus noahi”.

Note that the result is the first in the world information on the spread of the phytoplasm “Candidatus Phytoplasma solani” by the insect species “Reptalus noahi”.
