A carrier of the virus can spread the infection without even knowing that he has contracted a coronavirus.
Scientists at the University of Guangzhou and the University of Hong Kong, having studied the analysis of coronavirus-infected patients at the Eighth People's Hospital of Guangzhou, came to the conclusion that infected COVID-19 begin to spread the infection before they even feel the first symptoms of the disease. In 94 patients, 414 throat swabs were taken, which showed that patients are able to spread the coronavirus within 32 days of infection, but by day 21 the intensity of viral particles in the body is significantly reduced.
The authors concluded that, on average, in 44% of cases, a person infected with coronavirus begins to spread the infection 2.3 days before the onset of symptoms of COVID-19, and is most dangerous for people around him 0.7 days before the onset of symptoms of coronavirus. In some cities, cases of the spread of infection to its manifestation may amount to 48% -62% of all identified diseases.
