On July 17, 2020, a meeting of the Scientific Council on Virology of the IAAS was held in a video conference format. Correspondent member of ANAS, Head of the international laboratory Molecular bioengineering, professor of the Akdeniz University Tarlan Mammadov represented our country at the event was attended by scientists from the Republic of Belarus and other foreign countries. Alexander Vladimirovich Kilchevsky, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus made an opening speech. Head of Department of Infectious Diseases of the Belarus State Medical University, doctor of medical sciences, head specialist for Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, professor Igor Karpov made a report on “Clinical aspects of COVID-19 in Belarus”. Tarlan Mammadov thanked the organization committee for the organization of such an international unity. He noted that the association is not only a positive step forward in solving existing problems, but also creates a favorable opportunity for cooperation. Noting the importance of joint cooperation in the development of vaccines against the COVID-19 virus, T.Mammadov said that our country is always ready for joint cooperation. At the end of the event, the regulation of the Scientific Council on Virology of the IAAS was approved.

It should be noted that the IAAS - International Association of the Academies of Sciences was established in 1993 in Kiev at the initiative of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for cooperation between the Academies of Sciences. The purpose of the IAAS Scientific Council on Virology is not only to organize and conduct bilateral research but also to provide scientific expertise for the development of this field of science.
