| Key scientific achievements | 1. 28 strains of bacteria possessing antibacterial activity and belonging to 12 species have been isolated from the microbiota of oil-contaminated soils of Azerbaijan. On their basis, a specific collection called "producers of antimicrobial compounds" has been created. 2. For the first time, the antibacterial activity of bacteria belonging to the species Bacillus vallismortis has been revealed. It is shown that B. vallismortis strain AZ-130 has high activity in the supernatant against Gram-positive opportunistic bacteria and produces one compound with antibacterial activity, the retention time (Rt) of which in the HPLC column is 12,648 min. 3. The AZ-130 biomolecule is stable at low pH and is soluble in an organic solvent. The approximate molecular mass of the bioactive AZ-130 molecule is 3319,6 Da. A search in the APD3 database showed that there are currently no known antimicrobial compounds with a molecular mass of 3319,6 Daltons produced by B. vallismortis bacteria, which confirms that the compound obtained is new to science in general. 4. It has been shown that the partially purified AZ-130 antibacterial compound at a concentration of 8 µg/mL to 16 µg/mL inhibits the growth and development of a methicillin-resistant strain of Staphylococcus aureus. 5. It has been shown that non-traditional and poorly analyzed for the presence of strains with antimicrobial activity soils, such as oil-contaminated soils, can serve as a good source of bacteria producing antimicrobial compounds. |
