Today an event dedicated to the 8 March-International Women’s Day was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies. Opening the event, vice-president of the academy, academician Irada Huseynova emphasized women’s role in the institute’s activity and especially noted the achievements of women in biology as well as in other fields. In her speech, I.Huseynova stated that the first female diplomat in the history of our statehood was Sara Khatun, Shafiga Akhundova was the first female opera writer in the East, and she emphasized that  Azerbaijani woman had an exceptional role in science, culture, and politics. Academician added that Azerbaijani women were given franchise for the first time in the East and it was a clear manifestation of the cultural level and intellectual potential of the Azerbaijani woman. Deputy director on general affairs, Natig Allahverdiyev presented Irada Huseynova honorary degree on behalf of Sebail district organization of YAP, and he congratulated her on behalf of the chairman of the organization, Shamsaddin Hajiyev.

Correspondent member of ANAS, Ibrahim Azizov, deputy director on scientific affairs, Ph.D. Alamdar Mammadov, chairman of Trade Union, Hasan Babayev, head of Bionanotechnology laboratory, doctor of biological sciences, Suleyman Allahverdiyev and others expressed sincere wishes to women.

At the event, all the women were presented flowers. Then the event continued with the party.
