From December 25 to 27, a practical training course was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized by the Public Association of Student Cooperation "One Volunteer". The event was attended by students of the SABAH group, Baku State University, and Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University majoring in biology. On the first day of training, the Director General of the Institute, Academician Irada Huseynova met with young people and spoke about the successes of the Institute, then the practical course began its work. Head of the Institute's Population Genomics Laboratory, PhD, Associate Professor Nurmammad Mustafayev gave a lecture on "Personal Identification: History of Origin, Importance, and Aspects of Application", a former doctoral student of the Institute, working as a postdoc at Oxford University, United Kingdom, laureate of the 2024 Presidential Prize for Youth Gulnar Abdullayeva introduced students to the topic "Applied Therapy Methods and Innovations in Cancer Treatment". PhD student in Molecular Biology, a researcher at the Population Genomics Laboratory Zarintaj Rustamova, who conducted research at the Max Planck Institute in Germany (director - 2022 Nobel Prize laureate in Physiology or Medicine Professor Paabo Svante) gave a lecture on "The Role of Ancient DNA in the Study of Modern Human Evolution", doctoral student at the same laboratory in Molecular Biology Ayan Huseynzade, a graduate of Istanbul University in Turkey, covered the topic of "Cell Cultivation Technologies", junior researcher at the International Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory, a graduate of Anadolu University, Turkey, Aygun Mustafazade gave a lecture on "The Effect of Biopolymers on Liver Cancer, New Therapies". Researchers of the Institute's Bioadaptation Laboratory, Turana Isgenderova and Saida Zulfugarova, familiarized students with the safety requirements and rules for conducting experiments in molecular biology laboratories. Students took part in experiments such as autoclaving, genomic DNA extraction, spectrophotometric and gel electrophoretic determination of DNA concentration and purity in NanoDrop, PCR, electrophoresis of PCR products, and documentation of results. The training course was successfully completed.
