March 27 is celebrated as Science Day in Azerbaijan every year. This significant day was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on April 9, 2018. The celebration of Science Day is a manifestation of the state's care for the development of science in our country and serves to increase public interest in scientific activities. In 2025, Science Day holds even greater importance as it marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS). Established in 1945, ANAS has played a significant role in the formation of Azerbaijan's scientific potential over the past eight decades, providing conditions for conducting fundamental and applied scientific research. As the main center for the country's achievements in various scientific fields, the Academy has contributed to strengthening international scientific relations and the integration of Azerbaijani science into global science. Various conferences, symposiums, seminars, and other scientific events are organized in the country within the framework of Science Day. These events provide an opportunity for scientists to present their scientific achievements to the broader public, discuss new scientific ideas, and promote science. Besides, it holds special importance in terms of increasing the interest of young people in science and involving them in scientific activities. Science is one of the main foundations of societal development, and in the modern era, the socio-economic progress of countries is based on scientific knowledge. The establishment of Science Day in Azerbaijan not only highlights the significance of scientific activities but also reflects the attention and care given to scientists and researchers. This year, the celebration of the 80th anniversary of ANAS provides an important opportunity to review the development of Azerbaijani science and determine future prospects. The observance of Science Day is a significant step towards preserving and further developing our scientific heritage.
