June 15, marked as National Salvation Day, is a sacred and unforgettable date etched in the memory of the Azerbaijani people—a true turning point in the country’s modern history. In the early 1990s, shortly after regaining its independence, Azerbaijan faced a deep political crisis, economic collapse, and internal unrest. The power vacuum in governance and growing public despair left the nation on the brink of chaos. In these critical and turbulent times, responding to the persistent demand of the people, National Leader Heydar Aliyev returned to power on June 15, 1993. His return ended the anarchy and instability, restoring order and public trust. Thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s wise leadership, unwavering will, and extensive political experience, Azerbaijan was saved from the threat of disintegration. June 15 has since become not only a symbol of political stability but also of national unity and renewed faith in the state. Today, the Azerbaijani people commemorate this day with immense pride and gratitude. It marks the beginning of the path to salvation and a crucial step toward the eternal preservation of independence. Every citizen understands the essence of this day and feels a personal responsibility to contribute to the protection and development of Azerbaijan’s statehood. National Salvation Day represents both political and spiritual rebirth in our history. Today, the strong, independent, and forward-looking Azerbaijan we live in is the result of that historic decision. June 15 is a day of reflection on the lessons of the past, awareness of present realities, and hope for a bright future. It lives in the hearts of all Azerbaijanis with deep reverence.
