At the international conference titled “Challenges in Energy, Food, Environment, and Climate Security” held in Baku on October 15, President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, highlighted Azerbaijan’s achievements in developing green energy and environmental initiatives. He noted that the State Program on the Use of Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources, initiated by President Ilham Aliyev, will turn Azerbaijan into a country with rich potential in this field. Habibbeyli emphasized that concepts such as “green economy,” “green energy,” and “green transformation” have become realities rather than just scientific directions, especially in the context of COP29. He stated that hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev reflects the country’s commitment to environmental protection and transition to a green economy. The event, he said, has influenced not only public life and the economy but also scientific thinking in Azerbaijan. Habibbeyli described COP29 as a milestone both in Azerbaijan’s national history and in the global history of science. He also mentioned the successful operation of the “green energy zones” established in Nakhchivan, Karabakh, and East Zangezur, and stressed that Azerbaijan ranks among the leading countries in the world for its use of alternative energy sources. He added that attracting foreign investment, alongside national resources, will accelerate the sector’s development. Finally, Habibbeyli expressed confidence that the participation of more than 140 scientists from 14 countries in the conference would contribute to studying Azerbaijan’s experience, fostering international scientific cooperation, and generating new projects and ideas.
