Professor Eminaga Sadigov, Acting Rector of Sumgayit State University and Corresponding Member of ANAS, speaking at the international conference on “Challenges in Energy, Food, Environment, and Climate Security” held in Baku on October 15, emphasized that environmental and climate security are among the most urgent scientific and practical issues of modern times. He noted that addressing these challenges requires deep, interdisciplinary approaches and global cooperation, as demonstrated by the establishment of major scientific platforms and large-scale projects in developed countries. Professor Sadigov highlighted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan hosts significant international initiatives not only in economic, political, and cultural fields but also in science and education, citing the “Eurasian Universities Summit” as an example. He stated that the Ministry of Science and Education has implemented systematic measures to improve the quality and organization of international and national scientific conferences, significantly enhancing their impact and reputation. According to Sadigov, the Ministry is carrying out a comprehensive action plan aimed at sustainable development, efficient use of alternative energy sources, and reduction of environmental problems, while also supporting scientific projects, conferences, and initiatives aligned with these priorities. He added that the Ministry finances projects that stimulate scientific activity and promote research in priority areas, providing institutional and financial support to research institutes, including the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, in fields such as environmental science, climate change, artificial intelligence, and information technologies. Professor Sadigov concluded that the current conference serves as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation among the scientific community, government bodies, and the private sector, fostering new scientific approaches and practical recommendations in the areas of energy, food, environmental, and climate security.
