A scientific-practical conference titled “Mustafa Topchubashov: Academic Heritage – 130” was held at the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) to mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of the prominent scientist, surgeon, and public figure, academician Mustafa Topchubashov. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and AMU. The conference began with the National Anthem and a tribute to the memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the homeland. Rector of AMU, Professor Geray Geraybeyli, emphasized that the event not only honors the great scientist but also symbolizes commitment to the development of Azerbaijani medical science and education. He noted that the presidential decree on celebrating this jubilee reflects the state’s respect for science, scholars, and national memory. Deputy Minister of Health, Associate Professor Nadir Zeynalov, recalled hearing from his teachers about Mustafa Topchubashov’s pioneering surgeries, lectures, and innovations in medical education, highlighting his enduring influence as the founder of a national medical school. Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, spoke about Topchubashov’s contribution to forming a strong surgical school and his key role in establishing the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. AMU Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Melahat Sultan, reflected on the scientist’s lifelong devotion to science and the historic role of the Topchubashov family in Azerbaijan’s statehood and culture. Speakers noted that Mustafa Topchubashov was one of the founders of Azerbaijani medical science and a reformer in medical education, whose ideas remain relevant and inspiring for young professionals today. The event also featured musical performances of compositions by his son, Professor Ibrahim Topchubashov, performed by People’s Artist Samir Jafarov. On behalf of the Topchubashov family, Honored Doctor Jeyhun Topchubashov expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the organizers. The rector presented a commemorative gift to Jeyhun Topchubashov, and the two-day conference continued with thematic sessions and panel discussions.
