The commemoration of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology Public Legal Entity + Photo Dec 12, 2025 | 15:00 / Events

On December 12, an event dedicated to the commemoration of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology Public Legal Entity, under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. First, the institute’s administration and employees visited the I Alley of Honor, paying their deep respects to the great son of the Azerbaijani people and an outstanding figure in the history of statehood, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, at his tomb, and laid bouquets of flowers at his monument. After the visit, the commemoration ceremony continued at the institute. The event was opened with an introductory speech by the institute’s Director General, Academician Irada Huseynova. Following the performance of the National Anthem and a one-minute silence in honor of the National Leader’s cherished memory, Academician Irada Huseynova delivered a detailed speech. In her speech, the academician highlighted Heydar Aliyev’s historic mission in the formation of Azerbaijani statehood, the strengthening of independent state-building, and the determination of the country’s development strategy. She stated that the policy of the Great Leader still forms the foundation of Azerbaijan’s socio-economic, political, scientific, and cultural development today. Irada Huseynova emphasized that Heydar Aliyev, while being an example of wisdom, principled leadership, and foresight in state governance, always attached special importance to the development of science as a strategic field. At the event, Corresponding Member of ANAS Ibrahim Azizov, Doctor of Biological Sciences Saftar Suleymanov, PhDs in Biology Saadet Khudaverdiyeva and Vusale Khalilzada, Head of the Institute’s Supply and Procurement Department Natig Mammadov, and PhD student Mehriban Shabanova delivered speeches, sharing their views on Heydar Aliyev’s role in the development of the scientific community and in strengthening the activities of research institutes in Azerbaijan. The speakers noted that even during the Soviet era, the Great Leader highly valued the strategic importance of science and identified enhancing the country’s intellectual potential as one of the main directions of state policy. On the initiative of the Great Statesman, thousands of Azerbaijani youths were sent to study at leading scientific centers of the USSR. As a result of this policy, a strong scientific workforce was established in the country, laying the foundation for the republic’s scientific and intellectual development. Today’s achievements in the country should be regarded as the outcome of those strategic decisions. The speakers expressed their gratitude for the invaluable services of the National Leader to the Azerbaijani people and paid their respects and homage to his immortal memory.

At the end of the event, a video clip reflecting Heydar Aliyev’s life path, statehood philosophy, and unparalleled devotion to his country was shown.
