This year commemorates the 10th anniversary of the passing of the outstanding scientist, public figure, and founder of the Institute of Molecular Biology. Throughout his distinguished career, Jalal Aliyev made fundamental contributions to plant physiology, photosynthesis research, and agricultural biotechnology, and laid the foundations for modern fields such as molecular biology, molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and biotechnology in Azerbaijan. He established a strong scientific school, authored more than 700 scientific works, numerous monographs and patents, and supervised the training of dozens of PhD and doctoral researchers. Academician Aliyev also served the country in various leadership roles in science and public life and was elected a member of the National Parliament for four terms. His legacy and invaluable contributions to science will always be remembered with deep respect.
