At the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Baku has become an important global platform for discussing sustainable urban development and climate-resilient cities.

In her article, Irada Huseynova emphasized that environmental conditions in cities directly affect human health, highlighting the importance of green spaces, ecological safety, and sustainable urban planning.

She noted that Azerbaijan has made environmental and urban development a state priority. President Ilham Aliyev’s initiatives on “green energy zones,” especially in Garabagh, demonstrate the country’s integration into the global climate agenda. The declaration of 2026 as the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” was also described as a strategic step.

The article underlined the importance of modern approaches such as green technologies, smart cities, electric transport, biodiversity protection, and scientifically based landscaping policies.

Special attention was given to the reconstruction projects in Karabakh and East Zangezur, where “Smart City” and “Smart Village” concepts, modern infrastructure, and green energy solutions have attracted significant international interest.
