June 30 marks the 98th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished scientist, public-political figure, Academician Jalal Aliyev. The eminent scholar's fundamental and applied research was devoted to elucidating the intricate mechanisms of photosynthesis and investigating the structural and functional organization of plants, from the molecular level to entire agroecosystems.

 In a statement to AZERTAC, Academician Irada Huseynova, Vice President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Acting Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology under the Ministry of Science and Education, spoke about Academician Jalal Aliyev's outstanding contributions to the development of science in Azerbaijan.
