Researchers in the Microbiological Biotechnology Laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology have developed bio-based products, one of which has been patented in Azerbaijan and Estonia. Some products are currently undergoing production-scale trials, while research continues on new biologically active compounds derived from microorganisms, particularly fungi.

The studies also focus on identifying beneficial microorganisms for agriculture, food, medicine, and industry, as well as improving water biosafety, environmental protection, and biotechnological applications.
