The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2019 was awarded jointly to William G.Kaelin Jr, Sir Peter J.Ratcliffe and Gregg L.Semenza "for their discoveries of how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability.

 Scientists have identified a molecular mechanism that regulates gene activity in response to different levels of oxygen, the Royal Carolina Medical and Surgical Institute of Stockholm has declared.

On October 8, the Nobel Committee will anounce the prize winners in physics, October 9 in chemistry and October 10 in literature. On "Nobel week" last day will anounce the name of the winner of the “Peace Prize”.

The amount of the Nobel Prize, as in the previous two years will 9 million Swedish kroner (about 830 thousand euros). The awards are still handed out every December 10—the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death in Stockholm and Oslo.
