On February 25, General Meeting of the Division of Biological and Medical Sciences (DBMS) of ANAS was held.

The event was attended by the vice president of ANAS, chairman of the Division academician Irada Huseynova, active members and corresponding members of ANAS from the Division, directors of scientific institutions and relevant persons.

During the meeting, the victims of the Khojaly genocide was honored with a minute of silence.

Academician Irada Huseynova opened the meeting and informed the participants about the agenda.

Then, the research plans of the scientific institutions and organizations included in the Division for 2020 were approved, as well as the results of admission to doctoral studies. Touching on a number of important issues related to the names of topics of the dissertation, I. Huseynova made relevant recommendations to scientists. She emphasized the importance of taking into account the relevance of topics.

The event also discussed issues arising in connection with the implementation of the decision of the Presidium of ANAS of February 14, 2020 on the "Work Program for the 3rd edition of the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan." Noting that the Program of Work covers 2020–2023, the Chairwoman of the Division emphasized the need for joint discussions with employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. She touched on the importance of developing an interdisciplinary research program that provides for timely and effective solution of scientific, organizational, technical, financial and other issues in connection with the 3rd edition of the Red Book.

Another issue on the agenda of the event was a proposal on cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and scientific institutions of ANAS. Noting that the Academy works closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, I. Huseynova emphasized the importance of proposals to expand these ties in terms of extrabudgetary revenues of ANAS.

In conclusion, a number of topical issues were discussed.
