On May 7, 2020, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has hosted for an international scientific online conference entitled “The Doctrine of Statehood of Heydar Aliyev and the Modern Era” was held. Speakers and participants took part in the conference through video conferencing.

The conference, dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, was opened by the first vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli. The scientist said that the great leader Heydar Aliyev was a prominent political and statesman of the twentieth century, who was appreciated at the level of world leaders. He noted that the name of the great leader is rightfully connected with the name of the independent Azerbaijan Republic: “All the events and the main achievements of the development of Azerbaijan over the past half century are directly related to the name and activities of the national leader Heydar Aliyev. Throughout its activities, this great genius preceded the political processes in the world and in our country, put the national interests of our people above all else and made fateful decisions.”

He spoke about unprecedented services to our people and the state, socio-political activities, an invaluable role in the development of the socio-economic and cultural spheres of the republic during two periods of leadership of the great leader in Azerbaijan. He said that the great leader Heydar Aliyev always tried for the freedom and progress of the people to whom he belongs.

The first vice-president of ANAS emphasized that Heydar Aliyev is the founder of an independent Azerbaijani state, the creator of a new Azerbaijan. The brilliant policy of Azerbaijan, put forward by this great personality, is the basis of state ideology, which unites all the peoples and ethnic groups living in our country, and ensures socio-political stability.

Isa Habibbayli noted that for the first time in the history of Azerbaijani statehood, the great leader Heydar Aliyev conquered the level of a nationwide leader. Thanks to many years of political and state activity, the government in Azerbaijan has received the status of a National Leader. Heydar Aliyev is the first National leader in the centuries-old history of the Azerbaijani state.

Then the scientist spoke about the historical merits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in formalizing the Azerbaijani language as the state language. He noted that even in Soviet times, Aliyev made a demand for the proclamation of the Azerbaijani language as the state language, and in 1978 the Azerbaijani language was listed as the state language in a separate article of the Constitution.

The first vice-president noted that in the most difficult period of Soviet rule, as a result of the initiative of the great leader and his visionary policy, the Military Lyceum named after Jamshid Nakhchivansky was founded in Azerbaijan. Isa Habibbayli emphasized that for the first time the raising of our tricolor flag in the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on November 17, 1990 under the leadership of a great leader, the non-participation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in a referendum on the preservation of the USSR, the beginning of the process of forming the first national army in Azerbaijan in Nakhchivan were successful steps on the road to the construction of independent statehood.

The first vice-president of ANAS brought to the attention that today the great ideas of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev are being consistently and successfully implemented in our country thanks to the visionary policies of President Ilham Aliyev.

Stressing that President Ilham Aliyev has taken consistent steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in our country, Isa Habibbayli said that these measures are of high political value.

He also recalled the videoconference of the heads of state of the member states of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, initiated by the chairman of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States, Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized the importance of this event in terms of pooling the efforts of states against this virus.

Then, the President of the International Turkic Academy, Darkhan Kidirali delivered a lecture on “The Role of Heydar Aliyev in the Development of Relations between Turkic Peoples”. He expressed satisfaction with the presence at the conference dedicated to the 97th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev.

A world-class politician, the eldest son of the Turkic world, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev devoted his whole life to the well-being and revival of the Azerbaijani people and gained immortality,he noted.

Serious reforms and constructive work were carried out in Azerbaijan in Soviet times, and these measures were continued during the years of independence due to the merits of Heydar Aliyev. As a result of the wise and far-sighted leadership of a prominent political leader, Azerbaijan today strengthens its foreign policy as an influential member of the international community.

The President of the Academy also spoke about the merits of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and the Turkic world. He said that the great leader did a lot to strengthen centuries-old friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, D. Kidirali stated.

Speaking about the exceptional merits of Heydar Aliyev in creating structures such as TURKSOY that serve the integration of Turkic states, D. Kidirali emphasized that the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the great poet Muhammad Fuzuli and the 1300th anniversary of the epic “Kitabi-Dede Qorgud” at the UNESCO level, recognition Azerbaijan is an independent Turkic state, including the organization of summits of leaders of the Turkic world associated with the name of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.

The speaker added that the outstanding personality Heydar Aliyev never considered the unity of the Turkic world only as a cultural and ethnographic unity based on common ethnic roots. He clearly stated his political position regarding the rise of the Turkic world, expressing that the modern Turkic world, which is experiencing a new period of its revival, is able to give new and unprecedented models to human civilization.

D.Kidirali noted that the unity of the Turkic peoples, which was attached great importance to the great leader, as well as equal, mutually trusting cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, is successfully continued by the heads of state of both countries, especially President Ilham Aliyev.

Finally, the president of the Academy emphasized that the ideas and traditions of statehood of the great leader Heydar Aliyev will always live.

Next, lectures were delivered by the professor of the University of Yakhin Doghu of Northern Cyprus Fakhraddin Sadigoglu “The work done to perpetuate the memory of Heydar Aliyev in Cyprus”, the rector of the Southern University (Institute of Management, Business and Law) in Rostov (Russia) Professor Imran Akbarov “The role of Heydar Aliyev in shaping Azerbaijani-Russian relations ”, Rector of Ardahan University, Professor Ramadan Korkhmaz“ Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani-Turkish relations ”, etc.

In addition, the chairman of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS, academician Ismail Hajiyev on “The Activities of Heydar Aliyev in Nakhchivan”, editor-in-chief of the “525th newspaper” Rashad Majid “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijani Press”, director of the Institute of Linguistics, academician Mohsun Naghisoylu “Heydar Aliyev and the Azerbaijani language ” made presentations at the online conference, director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, corresponding member of ANAS Artegin Salamzadeh on “The image of Heydar Aliyev in the art of carpet weaving ”, etc.
