On June 1, Professor Garib Murshudov, head of the Computational Crystallography Group at the Institute for Molecular Biology of the Institute for Molecular Biology of the Medical Research Council of Great Britain, head of the Laboratory for Computational Structural Biology at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS, has conducted an online workshop on “Viruses and Pandemics: Current Situation and Future or Hopes and Hopes reality” for students of Baku State University.

University rector Elchin Babayev, who joined the lesson in video communications, spoke about the scientist’s activities, the contribution of Garib Murshudov’s research to world science, noting that the professor’s research has been cited more than 46,000 times.

Then Garib Murshudov spoke on global issues related to the coronavirus pandemic, the causes of the spread of the virus, the problems of the fight against the virus, the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, the development of vaccines, the use of innovative technologies to prevent new epidemic threats, etc. The scientist said that social distance is already considered an important rule of behavior in the world, and encouraged people to follow these rules.

The lesson, organized on the Microsoft Teams platform, aroused great interest among students. The master class, which was conducted with the moderation of the Dean of the Faculty of Biology of BSU Chingiz Mammadov, ended with answers to questions from participants.
