Novosibirsk scientists are the first in Russia to receive antibodies that neutralize COVID-19

For the first time in Russia, employees of the immunogenetics laboratory of the Novosibirsk Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (ICMB) of the SB RAS received antibodies that neutralize coronavirus. Their discovery will form the basis for the creation of specific therapy and prevention drugs COVID-19, said
TASS Executive Secretary of the working group at the SB RAS for overcoming a new coronavirus infection Olga Dorokhova.
“At the Novosibirsk Scientific Center, the first in Russia to receive active antibodies to COVID-19. For this, we used blood samples from ill COVID-19 donors and a unique technology for sorting single B-lymphocytes. The resulting antibodies are able to block the interaction of the virus and the ACE2 cell receptor and, accordingly, prevent its penetration into target cells, ”said Dorokhova.
