On May 10, academician Akif Alizadeh, the president of ANAS, held a meeting with chairmen of the specialized masters’ dissertation defense council (SMDDC).

Academician Akif Alizadeh opened the event at the main building of ANAS. The scientist emphasized that the meeting coincided with the birthday of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and spoke about the great attention and care that the great leader made for the development of science and education. He noted that in the period of national leader Heydar Aliyev's leadership in Azerbaijan, significant steps were taken in the country to develop science, education, to strengthen scientific and technical potential, to train highly qualified specialists, to enhance the authority of scientific workers in the society. The great leader has always given high appraisal to scientists. A great stage in the development of ANAS is directly related to the name of this genius person.

A.Alizade spoke about the importance of master's degree in ANAS. He noted that one of the important directions of reforms carried out in ANAS is the integration of science and education. Thanks to the leadership of the country for the purpose of achieving the effective integration of science and education in the area of highly-qualified personnel, as well as with the support of the leadership of the country to meet the growing demand of qualified specialists and scientific staff of the republic for the first time in 2015 in the history of ANAS the masters degree of higher education has been established. The main goal is to attract young people to the scientific environment, to strengthen their scientific thinking and to increase their role in the successful development of ANAS.

The president of ANAS also noted that in the current year defense of 63 masters will took place in 12 specialized masters’ dissertation defense councils.

Afterward, discussions were held on the results of the minimum exams for doctoral and dissertation.

Vice-president of ANAS, academician Irada Huseynova, academician-secretary of ANAS, correspondent member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov, academician-secretary of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences Department, academician Nazim Mammadov, director of Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov, Director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes, academician Vagif Abbasov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Mirbaba Babayev and others spoke about the problems existing at the Master's degree of ANAS and made proposals on their elimination.
